Pilates

Menezes Method

The Menezes Method of Pilates is vastly different to other styles of Pilates taught elsewhere throughout the world. Every exercise has a functional purpose, improving movement throughout the whole body that can be carried into every day life. It is this difference that sets the Menezes Method apart from others and regular practise results in reduced back pain, improved posture and stronger core muscles. Lauren originally trained with Michael King at The Pilates Institute, London and also has good anatomical and athletic knowledge of the body due to her fitness and sports massage background. The Menezes technique based on muscle mechanics make sense of some of the more traditional Pilates exercises and makes it more accessible for all. Menezes Pilates is based on the method originally developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1920’s but with a difference. Lauren teaches mat based Pilates to individuals and in small group or classes.

The Pilates Method is for:

  • Those who have become discontent with the ‘gym scene’ and need a more focused program
  • Those who require more specific guidance for their exercise programs
  • Those recovering from injury and needing a more specific physical rehabilitation
  • Those wishing to improve sports performance
  • The elderly who require a gentle, yet effective, exercise regime
  • Those requiring more stretching and strengthening of their musculature
  • Those suffering from back pain and other joint or muscular problems
  • Those requiring an injury prevention program
  • Those wishing to reduce their mental and physical stress

Pilates works on so many levels and for all individuals from a remedial aspect through to an advanced program of lengthening and strengthening.
